Welcome to the 51st Annual Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest. Come and celebrate in our community that comes alive with the vibrant Bavarian colours of costumes, dance and song. Our Bavarian cultural festival has something in store for everyone.
The official tapping of the keg will take place on October 11, 2019 at Carl Zehr Square in downtown Kitchener. During our opening ceremonies you will have a chance to sample some delicious food, hear great Bavarian music and see many public figures from around the Region.
Enjoy some of our Family & Cultural events, such as the Oktoberfest Breakfast, Bogenschuetzenfest and the Running Boar Tournament, German Pioneers Day and “So You Think You Can Tanz” a cultural dance competition. Visit one of our authentic Festhallen to dance the night away to the sounds of live bands, sample authentic German food and enjoy the beer and schnapps.
Be entertained during our Thanksgiving Day Parade which stretches along an almost 5 km parade route as you observe many floats, marching bands, local dignitaries and of course our Parade Grand Marshal, who is always kept a secret until the opening ceremony.
In the words of Margo Jones, President 2017-2018, “You don’t have to be German to enjoy the festival, but join us and become German for 9 days”
